My Top 5 Sleep Rituals Powered by Eight Sleep-Copied from Jay Shetty newsletter

I'm asked all the time how I manage my energy and focus amid everything happening in my life and in the world. The truth is, it starts long before the morning. It starts with how I sleep. When you sleep well, your body doesn’t crave sugar, your mind stays clear, and your patience lasts longer. You have more energy for what matters: your purpose.

Here are the 5 rituals that optimized my sleep and the intelligent system that rewired my mornings:

1. Set Your Sanctuary

Your environment is your first signal to rest. Dim the lights, silence notifications, and let your space cool and quiet. Try to create the perfect microclimate for your body. Just cool enough to cue relaxation, just warm enough to feel held.

2. Align Your Body

Comfort isn’t about luxury. It’s about alignment. Adjust your position until your whole body – from your shoulders to your heels – feels supported. Find that sweet spot where tension melts away and the body remembers how to rest.

3. Train Your Breath

Once you’re settled, tune in to your breathing. Try a slow four-count inhale and six-count exhale. Play soft white or pink noise, or a guided meditation. As your breath deepens, your body follows.

4. Reflect and Refine

At the end of each day, take a moment to notice how you felt in terms of energy, focus, or calm. Health tracking gives you insights from your body about what went well with your sleep and what may need to be adjusted.

5. Rise a Little Wiser

When I was a monk in India, we began each morning by looking up at the sky. That first light resets your body’s natural rhythm and reminds you that rest and wakefulness are part of the same cycle. Step outside, lift your gaze, and let the sunlight tell your body: it’s time to begin again.
