My son was part of this very supportive and phenomenal program. Because he was part of this program he was able to have many wonderful experiences like flying in a glider at the Milton airport, attending free film events (Breakfast with Santa as an example) at Film.ca-thanks to the generosity of Jeff Knowles; and many other unforgettable memories.
I highly recommend becoming a part of this beneficial program for kids/youth.

September 18 is Big Brothers Big Sisters Day  
Today we're celebrating the power of mentorship and its transformative impact on young lives.
Behind every young person who tried out for or made the team, graduated, stood up for or believed in themselves, found courage when it felt impossible, there's someone who already knew they could.
Today we celebrate what's possible when one person shows up for another. Together, we’re making a bigger difference than we’ll ever know.

Spotlighting Jamie 
Of all things that mentoring is, it's most rewarding, says Jamie, volunteer mentor of 27 years. "I get as much out of the match as they do."
In his 27 years as a volunteer, Jamie has been a Big Brother to five mentees. Koen is Jamie's most recent Little Brother.

Partner Spotlight
We’re proud to spotlight the Pollock Family Foundation as a generous supporter of Big Brothers Big Sisters through its connection to long-time volunteer mentor, Bill Demytruk. Pictured are Bill (middle) with wife, Teresa, and "Little Brother" Tim.
The Foundation's support not only sustains volunteer programming, recruiting "the next generation of people like Bill," and also provides annual scholarships to youth pursuing post-secondary studies.
Support from the Pollock Family Foundation, combined with Bill's generous and giving spirit, has recently resulted in the creation of the Bill Demytruk Exceptional Volunteer Award, an annual recognition for one great Big Brothers Big Sisters mentor who has gone above and beyond in their support for their mentee.

Program Spotlight
The Community Matching Program pairs an adult mentor with a young person in their community. Together, the mentor and mentee spend time, share interests and new experiences. Through weekly outings, a supportive relationship is established.
We are currently recruiting 18+ volunteer mentors for the Community Matching program in Halton, Hamilton and Brantford. Learn more about volunteering or mentoring programs here. |
