Capillary Wave Community for Women July 21st

Self-care is easy when we feel rested and inspired, but it matters most when we least feel like doing it. On those days when you're exhausted, overwhelmed, or tempted to put everyone else’s needs ahead of your own—that is precisely when taking five quiet minutes for yourself becomes essential. You can’t pour from an empty cup, and choosing to care for yourself, even in small ways, is never selfish; it’s necessary.

Speaking of supporting our community, we have some incredible news to share! We officially received the New Horizons for Seniors Program grant! ðŸŽ‰ This funding will help us bring even more meaningful programming, connection, and safety resources to our group.

🛡️ Quick Safety Spotter: How to Spot a Phishing Email

As part of keeping our community empowered online, here is a quick guide on how to spot sneaky scam emails before they catch you off guard:

When reading your emails, keep your eye out for these main red flags:

  • Check the Sender's Header: Scammers often fake the display name (e.g., "Your Bank"), but if you hover over or click the email address, it shows something random like support@xzy-security-check.com.

  • Look for Deceptive Links: Never click a link directly. Hover your mouse over it first to reveal the true web address. If it doesn't match the real official website, don't click it!

  • Watch for Urgency Cues & Threats: Phishing emails love to panic you ("Your account will be suspended in 24 hours!"). Take a breath—real organizations won't pressure you to act rashly.

  • Generic Greetings & Typos: Keep an eye out for awkward phrasing, spelling mistakes, or generic salutations like "Dear Customer" instead of your actual name.

Women's Family Court Support Program~

The Women's Divorce Support Program is a comprehensive support service designed to assist women navigating the emotional and procedural challenges of separation and divorce. This program provides participants with access to a dedicated Court Support Worker who offers step-by-step guidance throughout the process. Whether working alongside a lawyer or proceeding with self-representation, members receive practical assistance to help them stay organized, informed, and prepared. In addition to one-on-one support, the program also includes group workshops and access to a legal professional, creating a well-rounded support system that addresses both the practical and emotional aspects of divorce. The program also includes group workshops and access to a legal professional, creating a well-rounded support system that addresses both the practical and emotional aspects of divorce.
Program Support Includes:
*Assistance with completing and organizing court documentation
*Guidance on navigating court processes and timelines
*Support in working effectively with legal counsel one-on-one assistance for individuals who are self-representing
*Group workshops focused on education, preparation, and peer support
*Dedicated time with a lawyer to help participants better understand their rights, options, and next steps
*Emotional support and grounding during a high-stress life transition

While this program does not replace legal representation or provide direct legal advice, it ensures participants are supported, informed, and not facing the process alone. The focus is on reducing confusion, increasing confidence, and supporting overall mental well-being during a critical time. This initiative is delivered in collaboration with the Women’s Centre of Halton, whose expertise and partnership have been instrumental in shaping a compassionate and effective support model.

Please take extra good care of yourselves this week—even if it's just stepping outside for fresh air (now that the air is clearer!) or drinking a warm cup of tea in quiet. You deserve that time and peace.

We are so grateful for each of you and can't wait to share more updates about our new grant projects soon!

With love and warmth,

Gratefully,
