Weekly Cyber Security Tips-Capillary Wave

 Hello everyone,

Please check out our new section on the website; it has tons of resources to help protect you and your loved ones from scams.

Phishing messages are emails or texts designed to trick you into clicking a link, downloading a file or sharing personal information.

The message may appear to come from your bank, a delivery service, a government agency or a company you recognize.

Warning signs include:

  • Spelling mistakes or unusual wording.
  • A message that creates fear or urgency.
  • An unexpected refund, invoice or delivery notice.
  • A request to confirm your password or banking information.
  • A suspicious attachment.
  • A link that does not match the organization’s normal website.

Do not click a link just because the message includes a familiar logo.

Instead:

  1. Close the message.
  2. Open the organization’s official app or website yourself.
  3. Call the organization using a trusted number.
  4. Delete the message when you confirm it is fraudulent.

Do not reply to a suspicious message. Replying confirms that your email address or phone number is active.

This week’s safety action: Review your recent messages and delete anything suspicious without clicking its links.

When in doubt, delete it and contact the organization directly.

Stay informed. Stay connected. Stay safe.

Gratefully,
